[A muted hmph, but it isn't one of discontent. Being fed like this should be embarrassing, but he can't claim to mind it, eating bite after bite of spaghetti in the same juvenile fashion. As long as he doesn't admit to himself that he's enjoying being babied, Yael can keep allowing it to happen.]

I will after I take care of you first. Let me prioritize you just this once, alright?

[ He leaves no room for questioning in his tone, either, and Yael knows that Yuui will fight him on this. Once all the spaghetti is cleared off the plate, he reaches up to run his fingers through that oily hair. ]

I hope eating has made you feel a little bit better.

[He almost cringes when Yuui threads his fingers through his dirty hair. He knows it's dirty, doesn't he? Getting his hands messy like this isn't what Yael wants for him, and so he sighs, sitting back with crossed arms.]

Let me shower. I'll be quick.

[ He knows, he can see it and feel it, but it's clear in the way he moves to do it again that he simply doesn't give a shit. ]

Want some help? I'll condition your hair and everything.

[ But he won't push. Yuui is starting to learn where he should push Yael and where he shouldn't—this is a battle he isn't going to fight. ]

[Yael sighs, glancing off to the side.]

You seriously think I need help cleaning myself?

[There's no fight in his voice, but he has to put up some token resistance, doesn't he? He'd like that very much, Yuui, but this is one of those cases where a little friendly insistence will go a long way.]

[ He lightly shoves Yael's shoulder. ]

I didn't say you need it. I asked if you wanted any.

[ Yuui grabs his own plate and starts to eat, waiting until he swallows to speak. ]

Honestly, I'd like to help you.

[His sigh isn't purely performative— he's tired, but Yuui's company is enough to keep him from tottering off to spend another several hours molded to the couch cushions. A bath with a little assistance from a pair of loving hands... Yeah, that doesn't sound so bad.]

[ He laughs to himself before he hurriedly finishes up his own spaghetti. Can't keep his very depressed boyfriend waiting, after all. ]

[Yael hauls himself to his feet and ambles towards the bathroom, guiding Fai there, but. Wait. His brow arches.]

What, were you planning on getting naked to wash my hair?

[ He gives Yael a Look, one that speaks a thousand words that all eventually come to the same meaning—no shit. ]

I was going to join you in the shower. Why would I go in with clothes on?

[weaseled]

[Well excuse him, princess. Yael guides them into the bathroom and flicks on the light, filament bulbs flickering and the fan sluggishly whirring to life. It's a quaint bathroom, all things considered, and one a sole male occupies as evidenced by the lack of quality toiletries.]

I'm not loaning you my underwear if you get yours wet. Want a bath?

[A shower is fine, but if Fai insists on joining him, a bath would be nicer.]

[ Yuui can't help it. He pulls a face, one that said he's dissatisfied with what Yael has on offer. ]

...Sure. We can do a bath.

[weaseled]

[Yael? Yael genuinely does not get it. He's got all the necessities here: bar soap, cheap shampoo, and a serviceable conditioner. What more does he need?]

Why the hesitation?

You have no bath salts, no bubbles, not even body wash...

[ Good god. This is a nightmare.

But Yuui presses on and turns on the water, letting it get reasonably warm before putting in the stopper. ]

...Heh.

[He had a feeling that's what the issue was. Yael undresses, pulling his shirt off overhead and kicking his sweats into a far corner of the bathroom.]

Go to the store on base and buy some. It'll take you five minutes at most. My wallet's on the kitchen counter.

[ Yuui runs his fingers through the water, checking the temperature as he frowns. ]

You really think I'm going to leave you alone now that I finally have you in my sight?

[ He's absolutely not going to do that, even if he knows Yael won't keep him from coming back in. The last thing he wants to do is leave Yael to himself now. ]

[Another huff of laughter— now there's the fireball he bagged and shagged. Yael's hand juts out to ruffle his hair, a smile tempting the edges of his lips.]

You've caught me in your web, black widow. I'll be here waiting for you to come back and bite my head off.

[So go grab those bath salts and bubble bath. To further incentivize him, Yael slips out of the bathroom and returns a minute later with a bundle of keys strung on a lanyard, tossing them to Yuui.]

Those are my keys. I can't go anywhere without them or lock you out, so get going.

I know you're not going to lock me out, you jerk.

[ He stands up, putting the lanyard over his neck before walking over and giving Yael's shoulder a shove. ]

Don't even think about stepping a single foot into the bath until I'm back.

[ That is a threat. With that, Yuui takes his leave, hurrying out the front door.

Just as Yael said, it's only five minutes or so before he's back, plastic bag in hand as he shuts and locks the door behind him. He pokes his head into the bathroom, throwing a packaged lavender and chamomile bath bomb right at Yael. ]

[The first words on his mind aren't the ones that leave his lips: you're beautiful when you're angry.

Instead, leaning back against the wall with a self-satisfied grin, Yael waves him off and settles on the much simpler:]

I'll be here.

[True to his word, he is, catching that package and working it open to plunk the bath bomb in the tub.]

Lavender and chamomile, huh? Fancy.

You're supposed to put it in more gently.

[ Ugh. It's fine! It just won't fizzle the way it's supposed to... but at least it fizzles a little bit now.

Yuui sinks to his knees and tries to distribute some of the bomb across the bath water. ]

It's not that fancy. You can't have one scent or it's overpowering. I hope you start memorizing this stuff.

[weaseled]

Put it in gently, huh.

[If he were feeling a little better, this would be the prime opportunity for a sexual remark, but alas! The fact that Yael's considering the joke at all is a good sign.]

I don't need to memorize this stuff when I've got you. How long do we have to wait until we can get in?

We wait for it to stop fizzing.

[ Which it’s started slowing down, so Yuui begins disrobing, unbuttoning his shirt as he glances back at Yael. ]

Memorizing it would be nice in case you ever wanted to surprise me. Just a thought.

[Yael sits beside the tub and watches the bath bomb slowly fizzle away to nothing. Like a cat staring at a bug on the other side of a glass pane, there are no thoughts behind those eyes.]

Yeah? I know you like to be pampered. What kind of chocolates do you like?
